The Seeds of the Heart Medical Ministry

The Seeds of the Heart Medical Ministry

WHY DID WE START A MEDICAL MINISTRY?

It all started because of a little Mongolian girl. When she was a toddler she was diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus, which treatment requires her to take artificial hormone supplements every single day of her entire life (Anti-Diuretic Hormones). At the same time, doctors diagnosed her with Nystagmus which they call “dancing eyes.”  Even with these medical difficulties she has learned to live contently in God. She believes that when God allows challenges into our lives He also comforts us. In the last few years due to good friends of her family who are in the USA, she had the chance to get medical check ups and receive her hormone pills. Her name is Tungana and she is my oldest child, born in 2001, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. My name is  Haka (Ganchimeg Ganbat), and I am one of the first Christians in my country of Mongolia, and also in my family. I am a full-time midwife and Physical Therapist. Ten years ago God put on my heart a desire to provide help to people who suffer from accidental-and often severe-skin burns. Skin burns are an ever-growing problem to the Mongolian population, especially during the long winter months when extreme, bitter, freezing temperatures force people back to their small dwellings (yurts) with very limited space and unsafe conditions. Among the victims of the serious accidental skin burns are children of different ages who often suffer devastating consequences.  Our desire to step in and help people with skin burns becomes stronger each time we visit the trauma center where people receive care after burn accidents. The hospital is desperately trying to help as many people as they can, but their capacity and ability to accommodate burn victims is greatly reduced due to limited resources and aging equipment. Today I am so excited to share with you about the incredible opportunity that God is opening for us. It’s a great way to share His good news and show His love. All of this because of a little Mongolian girl; my daughter Tungana. Because of her I started to read medical books and try to find the issue in my daughter’s health. After that I went even deeper and studied at 3 medical schools over the past 12 years. Because God has a great plan for many lives through me, through my daughter Tungana, and through you, too! In 2010 God put on our hearts a desire to bring some kind of help to people who suffer from accidental and often-severe skin burns.  My church was full of young people with a big heart to help those in need. Every month we go to the hospital and participate in simple hospital duties, like cleaning, washing toilets, helping patients with showers.  Every winter we also help to provide warm clothes and food to the patients in need, particularly the homeless. Sometimes we organize a church offering to provide poor patients with medical supplies like antibiotics, bandages, vitamins, and protein shakes.

Thank you,

WHAT DO WE DO?

Skin burns are an ever-growing problem to the Mongolian population, especially during long winter months when extreme and bitter freezing temperatures force people back to their small dwellings (yurts) with very limited space and unsafe conditions. In 2013 we raised funds of about $2,000.00, and in Kazakhstan some Christian friends have purchased an oxygen machine and pulse oximeters.

Back in 2015, the skin grafting machine was a vital piece of equipment that desperately needed to be replaced due to age and inefficiency, so our ministry became dedicated to raising funds in order to purchase a new one.

Many business and community leaders and individuals participated and we were able to raise $8,200.00. God bless Children Circle Mission and Mrs. Lita Kharmai from the USA, as they helped us obtain a brand new Zimmer skin grafting machine for a great price.

Then God put on our hearts a desire to buy another piece of medical equipment called a Dermatome. We entrusted Him to raise the funds again and this time it happened very quickly. God provided us with $16,000! We very proudly handed this over to the Burn hospital in 2017.

Because of all this help we received from friends, brothers and sisters all over the world, God opened doors for us to reach out to people who were suffering at the trauma hospital and  also to the doctors who needed the right tools and equipment. After many years of building a relationship and partnership with Dr. Tuya (sergeant doctor), she received Christ during a medical trip to Singapore in 2018. After this she really committed her life to Christ and was baptized towards the end of 2019. In addition to Dr. Tuya, another doctor decided to follow Christ and was baptized. Our first goal was to reach out to the patients, but God extended our vision and through Him we began reaching out to the doctors as well.

WHAT DO WE DO?

The population of Mongolia is 3 million; 1.3 million live in the capital of city Ulaanabaatar. There is a burn hospital here, but it is the only one nationwide. In one year, 2000 patients were treated here and 70% of  them are children under 7 years old. Most of them are poor and come from the countryside and rural area, far from their families. Due to this, many times there is no food and medical supplies available to them. Our resources are very limited, but we take care of them and  share the good news.

If we reach the doctors and nurses, they can then reach more effectively to the patients. We have monthly and weekly fellowship where we share the Gospel with non-Christian doctors.

The doctors are hard working and some of them are very open to the Gospel. We invite them to leave the country for a bit to relax and visit the more developed hospitals for learning, new experiences, and to visit churches. This is a great way to build relationships, making it easier to share the good news with them. In some of these travels we have gone to South Korea and Singapore; in our last trip to Singapore, 3 doctors received Christ and 2 of them were baptized at Evangel Christian Church in Singapore, November of 2019.

The full gospel is shared, we take care of them, and help their needs. Today most Mongolians who have heard about Jesus only did so in the last 28 years, after the Iron Curtain break off in 1990. Because of the low population in Mongolia,  now more than ever we need friendship evangelism. To do this, we share what we have, help them, showing the love of God by our lives and through our actions. The complete Gospel opens the door to people’s hearts.
